Electric scooters are revolutionizing the way we commute—offering a convenient, eco-friendly, and enjoyable way to navigate city streets. However, like any mode of transportation, your e-scooter requires regular maintenance to ensure optimal performance and, more importantly, your safety. At Ausom, we care about your riding experience and want to ensure you stay safe while enjoying the convenience of your e-scooter. Here are some essential maintenance tips to keep your e-scooter in top condition.

Daily Maintenance: Start with the Basics

After each ride, take a few minutes to clean and inspect your e-scooter.

Clean Your E-Scooter Regularly

Dirt, dust, and debris can damage sensitive components. We recommend using a soft and dry cloth to wipe them off the frame, deck, and wheels. Avoid submerging the scooter or washing it with a pressure washer or hose, as this could damage the electrical components. Additionally, do not clean your e-scooter with alcohol, gasoline, acetone, or other corrosive/volatile solvents. These substances may damage its appearance and internal structure.

Inspect the Tires

Ensure the tires are properly inflated and check for any visible wear or damage. Worn tires can lead to poor grip and unstable rides.

Test the Brakes

Faulty brakes are a serious safety hazard. Please test your brakes before each ride to ensure they’re responsive. A quick brake check can be the difference between a safe stop and a dangerous situation. If you notice any issues during your brake test, we advise resolving them promptly to avoid potential accidents.

Schedule Regular Inspections

Periodic checks—ideally every few weeks—are key to identifying hidden issues.

Check all screws and bolts

Due to vibrations, screws and bolts may loosen over time. A routine check every couple of weeks is recommended to ensure that the handlebar, folding mechanisms, and wheels are in excellent condition and that all screws and bolts are properly tightened.

Inspect the Wiring and Connectors

Look out for exposed or frayed cables, particularly around the brake system. Damaged wiring can impact the e-scooter’s performance and your safety.

Battery Care: Your Power Source Matters

Your e-scooter’s battery is its heart—treat it with care.

Develop Good Charging Habits

Avoid overcharging or letting the battery drain completely. We recommend keeping the battery level between 20% and 80% for optimal battery health.

Store with a Partial Charge

If you plan to store your e-scooter for an extended period, it is best to keep the battery at around 50% and place it in a cool, dry location to help preserve battery health.

Storage Tips: The Right Environment

Where and how you store your e-scooter makes a big difference.

Avoid Extreme Temperatures

Don't expose your e-scooter to extreme temperatures. It is best to store it in a cool, dry environment—excessive heat may damage the battery cells, while freezing temperatures can significantly reduce battery efficiency. Proper storage helps you extend your scooter’s overall lifespan and ensures reliable performance.

Humidity Matters

Excess humidity can lead to corrosion of key internal components. For optimal protection, we strongly suggest storing your e-scooter in a dry, indoor environment away from damp or poorly ventilated areas.

Troubleshooting: Know When to Ask for Help

If you encounter any problems with your e-scooter, such as unusual noises or poor performance, we recommend contacting an authorized technician promptly. Please avoid self-repairs that could pose risks or affect the warranty.

Avoid Some Common Mistakes

To maintain your e-scooter’s optimal performance and ensure riding safety, the following mistakes should be prevented:

Storing it in damp or humid environments

Moisture can damage the electrical components and lead to rust over time.

Ignoring minor issues

Small problems, such as squeaky brakes or slight battery drain, can escalate if left unchecked. We recommend addressing them early to avoid costly repairs.

Overloading the e-scooter

Carrying more weight than the recommended capacity puts strain on the motor, battery, and frame, reducing overall performance and safety.

Regular Checklist

Weekly: Tires, brakes, battery level.

Monthly: Screws, bolts, full battery cycle, full body clean.

Seasonally: Deep inspection or professional servicing.

At Ausom, your safety is our priority. Maintaining your e-scooter isn’t just about prolonging its life—it’s about keeping you safe on the road. By following these maintenance tips, you will enjoy countless safe and enjoyable rides.

My tail and brake light doesn’t work anymore. It was dim going on and off but now nothing. What do you think is the problem?

This sounds like a connection seating issue. Since the lights flickered before failing, a quick terminal check usually solves it. Please reach out to our After-Sales Support [support@ausomstore.com] with a brief video of the issue. We’ll help you troubleshoot the wiring or ship out a replacement unit to get you back on the road safely.
